Security in Sensitive Areas

There are "sensitive areas" at all levels, for example in safes, rooms in buildings, buildings themselves, industrial, military or residential areas, ports, airports and air bases, national or international borders, etc. There are two aspects to making sensitive areas secure against aggression attempts, and Sphinx has a wide range of solutions for these aspects:

  • Protection against fraudulent penetration (or escape …) attempts by persons at checkpoints; the objective is identify or verify/confirm the identity of a person who present himself / herself and his/her access rights, using multibiometry techniques (fingerprints, iris recognition, face recognition, etc.), and cryptology when the person presents electronic documents.
  • Protection against intrusion attempts elsewhere than at regulation checkpoints; the objective is then surveillance (and possibly action) in the broad sense of the term, a field in which Sagem Sécurité excels with its fixed or onboard products and systems (vehicles, aircraft, ships) making use of a strong optronic component.

Security by verification at checkpoints. Sphinx products include:

MORPHOACCESS™

altThe MORPHOACCESS™ is a fingerprint reader dedicated to physical access control. It is designed to create or reinforce security systems, and has all interfaces (RS 485, Wiegand,…) necessary for it to be integrated into a new or existing access control system. The terminal includes all components necessary for capturing fingerprints, for the storage of fingerprints for up to 50 000 persons and identification of an individual, all in a small terminal. It can be used in identification or authentication mode.

MORPHOTOUCH™ II

The MORPHOTOUCH™ II is a multifunction biometric terminal including identification by fingerprints. It has a very wide field of application:alt

  • pension distribution
  • customs check
  • loyalty program
  • physical access control
  • personnel timetable management
  • enrolment application - etc.

This terminal was created to make it easier for our partners to develop their own application software. The Software Development Kit provides all tools necessary for the creation of a personalized application. These tools can provide access to all (hardware and software) resources of the terminal.

Information Security

Sagem Sécurité makes use of two advanced technologies in which it has long experience for protection (and transmission) of information:

  • Cryptology, and particularly Public Key Infrastructures (PKI).
  • Identification/authentication by multibiometry, particularly by fingerprints.

Applications include:

Security of computer processes

This is the specialty of a Sagem Sécurité subsidiary, Sagem Orga, and its features include:

  • The biometric "login" (by fingerprint sensor) to access PCs.
  • Access control to virtual networks.

Some significant examples of solutions proposed by Sagem Sécurité:

- Access control terminals with fingerprint recognition: Morphosmart™

See the brochures of the MORPHOSMART™ : MSO 300 Series  MSO 1300 Series

- Encrypted access (PKI) to the Internet network (TCP/IP) and creation of a Virtual Private Network (VPN) by using SENTINELLE connection boxes.

- Secure message service and secure browsing on Internet.

- Document server secure electronic time-dating.

General Company Security

A variety of specialties are involved in the global security of companies. Sagem Sécurité proposes these specialties in global turnkey contracts through its MorphoSecure systems.

MorphoSecure is a modular multi-service system; it can be used to choose a tailored solution for the following fields, by selecting only the necessary applications:

  • Protection of buildings, persons and properties: access control with or without cards, with or without biometric terminals, with or without checking by video images, and single site or multi-site.
  • Protection of information: public key cryptology and electronic signature, logical access control by capture and recognition of fingerprints (Sagem Orga subsidiary).
  • Protection of communications: encryption and electronic signature of e-mails and attachments, encryption of conversations on fixed and mobile telephones.

MorphoSecure uses Local Processing Units (LPU) connected through computer network(s) (Internet technologies, local wired network, Wi-Fi network). A local processing unit may include video surveillance, peripheral or volumetric detectors (contacts, shock detectors, heat detectors, radar, infrared barriers, etc.). The system displays drawings of the premises on screens with symbols representing intrusions or other events, a video of the premises in which an intrusion was detected, etc. The system has a wide range of capacities with up to 2 million alarm points, 10 000 drawings of premises and 4 096 local processing units, controlled by a powerful management software (PCWNT).

Biometric Terminals

Sagem Sécurité has a wide range of terminals, components and software used to build biometric access control systems as a whole or for OEM sales.

altMorphoAccess is a physical access control terminal based on fingerprints enabling identification (1 among N) and multiple authentication (identity confirmation).
It can operate alone or networked and provides a "Plug and Play" solution adapted to existing access control systems. Contactless card readers may be available depending on the model. There is a version for indoors installations and another version (Outdoor MorphoAccess) for outdoors installations.
